Why did Marx never complete Capital?
Many scholars have different views as to why Marx ultimately didnt finish Capital. Many feel that its because in the course of doing this many volume study there were so many things that he ran up against that he simply could not explain. And so one reason may be that capitalism just proved to be too tricky of a knot for him to untie. Of course, he also was one of these people who had just an incredible amount of notes, an incredible amount of research, and like so many people just got lost in that. Engels of course tries to finish the work after Marx dies, and then tries to give Bernstein the task of doing what was supposed to be the fourth and final volume, which of course never really comes to pass.
