Why did Marion Jones plead guilty?
Well there is talk of Marion being offered a plea deal which would suggest that someone out there had solid proof of steroid use which was passed onto the authorities. Had she not accepted the deal she’d be looking at a 5 year jail term as opposed to the 6 month term prosecutors are recommending. She’s a woman with two kids, 6 months away from them isn’t going to be as painful as 5 years away from them so I’m sure the impact this would have on her children was a factor. Either that or she had a crisis of conscience and decided to come out and admit to doping, it must have caused her immense stress and unhappiness to have to keep a secret like that under wraps.
