Mack Rhoades leave the University of Akron because The University of Houston offered him a deal he couldn’t refuse it .he said that This was a very tough decision and has weighed heavily upon me and my family over the past week. However, we ultimately felt this was the right decision for us. Being from the Southwest allows us to be closer to home and, more importantly, closer to family members .
The University of Houston has hired Mack Rhoades to be the school’s athletic director. Rhoades had been the athletic director at the University of Akron since 2006 and takes over for Dave Maggard. The 43-year-old Rhoades recently was a finalist for the Rutgers athletic director’s vacancy. Before the Akron job, he was an assistant athletic director at Texas-El Paso. Maggard retired last month after seven years as Houston’s AD. The announcement was made Thursday.
