Why did Kosovo want independence?
It is natural for any legal minority to seek independence and cross the line whenever given the chance. The Kosovo independence is a proclamation dating from 1878… Historical and demographic factors have tilted to their favor. The historical reality is that, whenever given a historical chance one group acted upon the other: feudal Serbia, Turkish times, Serb kingdom, WW1, Yugoslavia, WW2, Tito era, 1980-1989 rise of Albanian terrorism, Yugoslav civil war, NATO. The atrocities between Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo date even before Turks came to Kosovo. When we talk about “crime against humanity”, we must have the political factor in mind. Today, the legal and the political are hard to separate, because certain countries play above international law. What we can is to separate is the clear violation of international law; when NATO attacked a sovereign country member of UN, without UN Security Council approval.
