Why Did Joseph Frame His 11 Brothers And Threaten To Keep Them Hostage In Egypt?
When his 11 brothers went to Egypt for grain during a famine, Joseph was the official who made decisions regarding them. He recognized them but did not tell them. He called them spies and framed them for thievery and kept Simeon as hostage until they returned with their young brother, Benjamin. They begged him not to require that they bring him lest their elderly father could die of sorrow. He would not change his mind.
