Why did Jordan quit basketball in the prime of his career to play minor league baseball?
When Jordan first retired, many superstar atheletes would retire before they got over the hill. Many questioned Jerry Rice staying in the NFL for so long. Most superstars of that caliber would retire when they are old enough that they don’t think they will ever better than they are at that moment, and that it is all downhill from there. Some wondered why the greatest receiver of all time would stay on a team to just be their third WR. He loved the game so much, he wanted to play until they told him there were three guys better than him that were taking his spot.
