Why did Jesus have nail marks after he was dead and risen?

Jesus had been flogged with 39 lashes, at least; He had been dragged from the “judgment hall” to Pilate’s office, to Herod’s office, back to Pilate’s office, with no rest at all for Him; during that time He had been beaten, spat upon, and crowned with thorns. Nobody seems to have given Him any first aid, either. So He is worn out, battered, bloody, so weak He falls under the weight of the cross. He is NAILED to the cross, with nails in His hands (some say the area of the wrist, you can feel the indentation) and feet. After all that, He is left to die and there is a squad of soldiers to make sure nobody takes Him down before He dies. In view of all this, the odds are slim to none anybody could rescue Him from His death. The wounds, except for the spear thrust, were already in place when He was executed.
