God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth for a very important reason. Man sinned against God in the Garden of Eden. When the LORD made man and woman, God told Adam and Eve that they could eat of any tree or any fruit in the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He told them that if they ate of it or touched it, the day they ate it or even touched it, they would die. (please see Genesis 2:17) And you probably know the story. Satan (the serpent) tricked them into eating it and they sinned against a holy God, JEHOVAH, their Creator, the Creator of all things. Death was brought upon them and all of their children (us). However, notice that they did not physically die that day, but years later. So, God was talking about a different death than physical death when He said that the day they touched or ate of the fruit they would die.
