Why did Iraq invade Kuwait during the 1991 Gulf War?
Hi, To let you know I am a Christian from America. Iraq and Kuwait had a long standing border dispute, made all the more intense because the area in dispute had oil fields. Also, Iraq had always maintained that Kuwait was actually supposed to have been part of Iraq. Religion definitely had nothing to do with the matter. I really doubt the Kuwaiti can ever feel they can trust Iraq again, though I would be willing to bet they don’t have an issue with Iraqi people per se. More anger at the Iraqi government, even in these days. In my opinion Islamic brotherhood has always been an unrealized dream in reality. It is a theme I think people from Islam countries hope for. But think how many different Islamic governments there are and how many different types of governments? You have Saudi Arabia, which flaunts it’s wealth but attempts to counter that with strict observance of sharia law. You have Iran, which is a curious mix of democracy and autocracy/theocracy.
