Why did Indira Gandhi help in the formation of Bangladesh?
This is a question for which the answer was very obvious if you were adult during early 1970s. Pakistan was a real threat-***-menace for India as there were constant provocation from both the countries where India had to fight war at two fronts in 1965. Mrs. Indira Gandhi the then powerful PM of India helped in the creation of Bangladesh because it helped to weaken its main enemy Pakistan. Formation of Bangladesh removed forever the threat of simultaneous attack from the western and eastern wings of Pakistan on India. However, we are beneficiary of the rivalry as we got our own country in which we can prosper (or get doomed) due to our own efforts or folly!
