Why did I get a timeout message when using Vlingo on my iPhone?
• The most recent Apple iPhone software, OS version 2.2, contains significant network improvements that eliminate many network timeouts. We highly recommend using this version. If you’re not sure what version you have, to display the version number, go to your iPhone Settings -> General -> About. The version number should start with 2.2. If it doesn’t, we recommend connecting your iPhone to iTunes and downloading this version. As soon as you connect to iTunes, you should see a message asking if you want to download a new version of the OS. Click Download and Install. If you don’t see the download message, click the Summary tab and then click the Update button in the Version section of the screen. If you’re already running iPhone 2.2, the most common reason for recognition timeouts is slow network speed, particularly if you’re not on a 3G network.
