Why did health professionals and those aged 65 years and over in the study choose to receive influenza vaccination?
• Most commonly they chose to receive the influenza vaccination because the vaccine protects against influenza • The next most common reason was that these people were concerned about getting influenza and its complications, and they believed that the influenza vaccine prevents serious disease. • 67% of those aged 65 years and over recall their health provider recommending the influenza vaccine – of these 83% chose to receive the influenza vaccine. Only 63% of those that could not recall a reminder from their health provider received the influenza vaccine.
