Why did God Save the Queen play at the Chinese Grand Prix?
It was a huge ****-up. Not many people will know this. The first national anthem played for Vettel, which was right. They played the German national anthem. The next anthem to be played should be the CONSTRUCTOR anthem. God save the queen was played because Red Bull are based in Milton Keynes, UK. BUT RedBull is an Austrian team, and the Austrian national anthem should have played. So there you have it. Many think that RedBull are a British constructor, but they are actually Austrian, as they race under an Austrian racing license from the Austrian Motor Racing Authority. The team is Austrian as Dietrich Mateschitz, founder of RedBull, is Austrian, but the team is what was Jaguar, and so he uses all the old facilities for convenience and cost reasons. Hard to believe, I know, that such an elementary mistake could be made, but it’s true!
