Germany and the Central Powers lost the 1st World War due to a number of factors, the main being the conditions at home caused by the Blockade of outside trade by British, French, Russian and Italian Forces, unlike the 2nd World War where each occupied country was pillaged for its goods, equipment and food leaving the inhabitants barely enough to survive on the Central Powers did not plunder that much. The second reason, the armed forces of the 3 powers was declining faster than that of the Allied powers and even though the Soviets had made peace in 1917 and the switch of troops from the Eastern Front was complete and the Kaiser Offensive was in full swing but being checked slowly by the Allies, Hindenburg and Ludendorff the two big generals in Germany where dumbfounded and panic set in for 24hrs when the Allied counter attacks started to regain ground at a faster rate then they thought possible and gave the Germany Goverment an excuse to start looking for an Armistace.
