Why did Georgian Court decide to start a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program?
This program is being offered in response to an escalating nursing shortage, both locally and nationally. Georgian Court has a strong tradition of preparing students for careers in the service, science, and health-related fields. A Georgian Court education is infused with the Mercy core values of justice, respect, integrity, service, and compassion, all of which are integral to these fields. No other four-year B.S.N. program currently exists in Monmouth and Ocean counties, and studies show that patient outcomes are better when the nurse providing care has a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing. As with other professional fields, a bachelor’s degree helps nurses earn higher salaries and provides a stepping stone to career advancement and graduate study.
