The book and movie had George waking up precisely at 3:15 am each night. In reality, George would awaken between 3 and 3:30 am each night – not always precisely at 3:15. The reason is unknown, but some believe a connection between the estimated time of the DeFeo murders. George would awaken and feel the urge to check on the kids or check on the boathouse (their boat was a major investment).
