Why did Frank have his original house painted yellow?

You paint away the darkness.” Interestingly enough, a notorious and especially vicious serial killer in the mid 1980s called Richard Ramirez had a preference to enter yellow houses. Either Carter missed this one or he has got an odd sense of humor.
