Why did FPL not reduce the fuel charge sooner?
Throughout the year, we review our estimated fuel cost and fuel revenues. If the estimated fuel revenues vary more than 10 percent higher or lower than our projected fuel cost, we are required to notify the PSC and revise our fuel charge unless there is good reason to defer that action. We did not exceed 10 percent in 2009; therefore no adjustment was required.
