Why did european nations and american indians compete in north america?
By “compete” do you mean “fought”? It’s difficult to answer the question without knowing exactly ehat context your speaking from. Im assuming you are referring to the struggle over land. The European nations recognized the natural resources that were not being taken advantage of by the American Indian peoples. They claimed the land for themselves to use as they wish, and the American Indians didn’t believe it was theirs to claim seeing as how boundaries have already been set between tribes, clans, and nations. So, the europeans start to use up the means of life the Indian People have survived on for centuries, and the struggle is only made worse by the arrival of more and more europeans. Not too mention the arrival of new diseases. The struggle is seen through two sets of eyes. Immigrants who are looking for a fresh start in a new land which they believe to be unclaimed, and the native population who sees that their way of life is being threatened by encroaching inhabitants.
