Why did Europe willfully obey Hitler, and commit the most barbaric, inhuman, act in history, the holocaust.?
Before the Holocaust, Germany was in poverty. The Jews owned all of the big businesses, and were rolling in riches, most of them at least. This lead to hatred between the rest of the starving Germans, and the Jews. On the Night of Broken Glass, Germans burnt down any business belonging to a Jewish man. German business owners had to mark that no Jews worked there in order to ensure a secure building. Germany was a mess, filled with clashing cultures, poverty, and confusion among the leaderless country. Hitler seemed a confident and intillectual man, who expressed that the Jews should not own everything, dominate, and leave the rest of Germany to starve. He had plans for the well-being for the country, and everyone was looking for someone to follow. Germany thought Hitler was the best way to turn their condition around, as well as stop the Jews form expanding and taking over businesses.
