Enix changed the names of the characters (Erdrick became Loto, Gwaelin became Lora, etc.) The names are now actually closer translations to the original Dragon Quest versions. Although it is a mystery if Enix of America strongly is for more percise translations, if some fans complained who they listened to, or if there is a different reason, Enix of America claims the names were changed mostly due to the smaller screen on the Game Boy.
