Why did Dream Theater decide not to use an outside producer, beginning with Scenes From a Memory?
MP: It was nice to have that objective ear, but the fact of the matter is that we already have five chefs in this kitchen and the last thing we need is a sixth. John Petrucci and I especially have strong definite visions of what we want this band to be and sound like, as do James, John Myung and Jordan, so really the last thing we need is another opinion.
