Why did dickens create the character of scrooge?

It has to do with his life experience. Dickens lived wealthy in his early years but his dad after having spent beyond his means in entertaining, and in retaining his social position, was imprisoned at debtor’s prison. So Dickens had to fend for himself working in unregulated, strenuous and often cruel conditions of the factory employees (especially children), made a deep impression on him. I guess Ebenezer Scrooge is a representation of his cruel work bosses. He probably wished his boss could of converted to good and wrote a story about it.
