Why did cuaban missile crisis happen?

0

We had a base in Turkey, right across the border with the Soviet Union. They didn’t know we’d put it in and when they found out they were rather pissed, needless to say. It basically meant that we could launch missiles into the heart of the USSR and hit our targets before they could even get theirs off the ground. Thus they wanted a similar situation for themselves and that became Cuba. The US government, understandably, didn’t want that to happen and said that if they tried, the missiles would be fired. It’s called a crisis because we found out they had nukes on the way and we blockaded and told them anyone going through would be fired upon and sunk. This would have constituted an act of war and missiles would have flown, the world would have been destroyed.
