Why did Crispin Glover decline to do the sequels?
Basically, he didn’t want to do them. We asked him in the very beginning if he would be interested in doing the sequels. And he said “No. Well if you pay me what Michael J. Fox makes, I’ll think about it, but I have to have script approval.” He was just so disinterested in it, we figured that he didn’t want to do them. So basically, we wrote him out. The whole subplot of George McFly being dead in this weird alternate 1985 was because it was the way to keep Lea Thompson in the movie and not have Crispin Glover.
