Count Dooku blamed the Jedi Council for the death of Qui-Gon Jinn, one of Dooku’s prior Jedi padawans. Dooku also believed that the Jedi were contributing to the corruption of the Republic so for these two reasons Dooku resigned from the Jedi Order.
