Why did Clayton County Public Schools not pursue an appeal?
After careful consideration of all aspects of this issue and after consultation involving the Superintendent with members of the Board of Education, community leaders, and friends of the school district, it was determined that Clayton County Public Schools would not seek an appeal of the decision by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to uphold an earlier move to revoke the district’s accreditation. The anticipated appeals process had the potential to tax resources, both in terms of finances and personnel, which would be better served in other, related pursuits. The district has decided to channel all energies into efforts to seek reinstatement of accreditation. These efforts will focus on collaboration with SACS CASI leadership and community resources to coordinate work toward a reachable objective.
