Heres the story- Charles Manson (an aspiring singer/songwriter who had auditioned for the Monkees)befriended Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson (who was also their producer). Dennis said that he will have the Beach Boys record a song that Charles Manson wrote. When the song didnt appear Charles Manson got angry and demanded to know why the song was not recorded when it was promised that it would be. Dennis told Manson the song was not Beach Boys material. Feeling Betrayed he sent some people to Dennis Wilsons house to kill him,not knowing that the house had been rented to movie producer Roman Polanski and was occupied by Sharon Tate and others.Everyone in the house was murdered for no other reason than being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
