Why did CFMF choose Inglewood?
In choosing a site for the Festival Hall we found an area which is both important to the culture and history of Calgary and has a unique character that can enrich and be enriched by the construction of the Hall in a manner which is similar to Prince’s Island, yet with its own distinct Calgary character. The site is a mid-block 50’x123’ lot on 10th Ave SE. The street is currently in a state of transition and has been identified by the Inglewood Community Association as a desired location for a density and use, which parallels that of 9th Ave. SE. While the yearly festival will remain on Prince’s Island, the Hall enhances Inglewood’s role as a go-to Calgary destination and will stimulate local businesses.
