Why did CBMR convey the 17 acre parcel in North Village to Mt. Crested Butte?

The reason dates back to the US Forest Service land trade in 1998 that gave CBMR ownership of the public’s lands which are today known as Prospect. To settle numerous appeals of this land trade, CBMR agreed to plan its future real estate developments in Mt. Crested Butte as part of an 11 member Community Planning Group, CPG. Recognizing the need for additional parks in the region, CPG developed plans for a large park in North Village on a “peninsula” of land close to Mt. Crested Butte’s Town Hall. In July 2001 CMBR conveyed the 17 acre parkland to Mt. Crested Butte as a condition of approval of CBMR’s development plans for 350 home sites in Prospect.
