Before ranting, let me say that the quality of your comments here today is terrific. I’ve seen a lot of garbage on this site and a lot of nonsensical and childish posts. But, you guys are true fans who have exhibited smart, sensible opinions in a time of great change. Although it’s a black day, I’m proud to be a Jets’ fan. That said, I’d like to comment on the firing of Mangini. The downside is obvious. 1) We’re certainly going to have to lose the players’ training that comes from the consistency of a team’s leadership over time. 2) We’re letting go of a promising young coach who may well be successful in the future. 3) We may not compete next year because of changes that a new coach will feel are essential. 4) We might pick another Rich Kotite. 5) We might not get the fan favorite, Bill Cowher, and we may have to pick a guy who is young and untested.
