Why did Bontrager use bushings instead of bearings?
We chose to use a special engineering-grade bushing because it has many advantages. First, the bushings handle contaminants and weigh less than a standard bearing. Additionally, the bushings are self-lubricating and are extremely robust with high abrasion resistance under extreme loads. We have tested them thoroughly and they have also proven themselves in other products in extreme situations including underwater and outdoor equipment as well as many automotive applications.
