Why did Avril Lavigne name her clothing line Abbey Dawn?
Avril named her clothing line “Abbey Dawn” because it’s the nickname her dad gave her as a girl, and her friends picked it up and started calling her that too. When Avril was in her early career, she’s also use that name as an alias when she’d sign into Hotels (so the place would get swamped with fans, which would likely happen if she signed in under her real name). I believe I read she’s also considered using it for her baby’s name if she ever has a girl. And her dad got that nickname for her when he was working in or around Kingston, Ontario (about 20 minutes from Napanee where she grew up) and saw it as the name of a street or road. And, as it turns out, it was an especially appropriate name (even though her dad didn’t know it) because that street was named after an old sanctuary nearby that was called ‘Abbey Dawn’, where creative people like poets, writers, musicians, and singers use to gather. An Avril fan did some research and posted an article – with pictures from the real Abbey
