Why did Apogee zero down on India?
Primarily, three reasons. One cost; second time zone and third caliber of people. For cost effectiveness, Apogee zeroed down on India, Ireland and Israel. But from the time zone perspective, India made perfect sense. Also, compared to Israel or Ireland, India won hands down for caliber of people. Apogee missed being in the Silicon Valley of US; we wanted to make sure we did not miss being in the Silicon Valley of India. Also, earlier Apogee had viewed India from other perspectives. Initially, we thought it was best to create an ODC but later realised that the model may not successfully meet our objectives. Apogee want to have a say and exercise influence on its work, which is not always possible in an ODC model. More important, we wanted our employees to feel they were a part of Apogee Networks in US and ODC environments are not always successful in creating that bonding.
