Why did ancient Egyptians mummify their bodies??

0

Ancient Egyptians buried their dead in small pits in the desert. The heat and dryness of the sand dehydrated the bodies quickly, creating lifelike and natural ‘mummies’. Back then Egyptians believed that souls of the dead return to their bodies eventually and so they mummified them and placed them in special caskets so that the lost soul would find it’s body and become one with it again.
