Why Did American Marine Kill Innocent Puppy?
I’m sure a plethora of abandoned puppies have been killed in Iraq, most by a quick bullet, but this was a stupid decision. It shouldn’t have been video taped and the dog should have been dealt with humanely. But to answer the actual question, the dog was most certainly doomed. He couldn’t care for it, and the commanding officers wouldn’t let him keep it or spend the time to ship it to a more suitable destination. Once again, it should have been done humanely and never should have been videotaped, but it had to be done. Besides, a marine killing a dog in a hostile environment isn’t half as bad as what PETA does, euthanizing an unprecedented amount (more than 17,500 since 1998) of animals they find (97 percent of all animals in their care in 2006); all of this is done in a country with many capable homes.
