Why design clothing for plus-size women?
I’m a plus-size woman myself. So are just about all the women in my family. They’re plus size or they’re very curvy. So it’s very difficult to find clothes, even for myself. I always have to style it out or reconstruct it in some type of way. I just really wanted to always have that line of clothes that women could go to that, you know, fit a real woman. Coming from a design aspect, I can see visually, as far as patterns, the small changes they could make in the patterns that would fit a woman so much better. There was no way I could start a line and not actually make clothes for real women. What will we see at the show on Saturday? This fashion show, it is a little ’70s retro with modern touches. I still consider it sportswear, but here lately, jeans is kind of like the norm, so I’ve been told my stuff is a little dressier than casual. But for me, it’s very casual. I love to wear dresses and stuff like that. . . . Some cocktail dresses. I love making dresses. I feature some capris and
