Why Dancing In Schools?
Its common knowledge that dancing is good for the heart, the body, the mind, and the soul. Increasingly, science is affirming this belief. Perhaps this is why dancing has been a requirement of the physical education (PE) curriculum in B.C. for many years. Through dancing, children and youth experience benefits such as personal growth, exercise and good health, and learn new strategies to guard them against the pitfalls associated with high-risk activities (drugs, alcohol, obesity, violence). In many ways, they learn that dance is not simply about steps, but about life. Why Ballroom Dancing? Ballroom Dancing challenges participants in ways that other dance styles do not. Not only will students improve physical coordination, develop spatial awareness and learn to move in time to music, they also cooperate, communicate and collaborate with a partner in order to accomplish their dancing.
