The Cancer Monument Incorporated, a Texas nonprofit charitable 501c3, was responsible for all fundraising activities. Funds for the monuments construction was to be obtained entirely through charitable public support, which would have mostly, consisted of inscription donations at $135 each for a 35-character line inscribed in granite. The goals and long lasting purpose of The Cancer Monument to honor cancer heroes and offer public education was widely communicated through numerous mediums. Concurrently, the City of Allen agreed to hold a 2-acre park site for the monuments construction for 5 years while fundraising efforts took place.
