Why clinical thermometer cannot be used to measure high temprature?
A clinical thermometer is used to measure the temperature of the human body which can have a “normal” range from 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 36.1 to 37.8 degrees Celsius. The thermometer will be designed to read a few degrees less and more than the normal range in order to measure chill and fever. This is so it can show the most accurate reading over the range is was designed and calibrated for. If the scale of the clinical thermometer were extend to read in the rage needed for cooking and confectionery, up to 120ºC or 250ºF, the vital small differences in the human range would be hardly detectable.
