Why choose Tom and Debra as instructors?
There are very few instructors who have been engaged in the performance and teaching of 8-count Lindy Hop in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for as long as we have been. We are not ballroom dance instructors, West Coast swing instructors, country dance instructors, etc.–we only do what we have done for the past twenty years, which is swing dance. Other instructors from other backgrounds have taken on the label of “swing instructors” assuming that this is just another dance. We have never felt this way and do not teach with the thought that once the “swing craze” fades we will teach another style of dance. We do not view swing dancing as a method by which we can tie students into long-term contracts for dance lessons. We teach a street dance that the major dance studios abandoned many years ago.
