Varsity sports at St. Thomas offer a winning combination — conference, regional, and national athletic excellence, and outstanding academics. St. Thomas has more than 700 student-athletes who compete on 10 men’s and 10 women’s varsity sports. Since the conference was founded in 1920, Tommie teams have won a conference-best 307 MIAC team championships — 93 more than the next MIAC school. That doesn’t include 26 of a possible 86 conference playoff championships UST has captured. St. Thomas has also finished in the top 40 (out of 424 institutions) each year of the NCAA Division III Directors Cup all-sport standings. St. Thomas has won a conference-best 11 NCAA team championships in six different sports, and has had top-five NCAA team finishes in 18 different sports, UST students have won 52 NCAA individual championships and received 54 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
