It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as “white goods”, aluminium extrusions, and automobile and motorcycle parts. Powder Coating is generally tougher than wet paint and the finish is usually 2.5 to 4 mils thick whereas wet paint is usually 1 to 2 mils thick.
