In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise by HEFCE, the department received a 5*A rating, the highest possible award. Graduates of our present MSc Petroleum Geoscience course and its predecessors (Petroleum Geology and Exploration Geophysics) have, and continue to have, a high success rate in finding employment in the industry. You would join an active research and teaching centre, comprising almost 300 students studying a wide range of BSc, MSci, MSc and PhD degrees, covering fundamental geology, geophysics and geochemistry and their applications to environment and industry.
