Why choose Imperial College?

The Earth Science and Engineering Department at Imperial College has been at the forefront of teaching petroleum-related courses since 1911. The most recent (1995) HEFCE review awarded earth sciences teaching at Imperial College an “Excellent” rating, and specifically commended the MSc Petroleum Geoscience course. In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise by HEFCE, the department received a 5*A rating, the highest possible award. Graduates of our present MSc Petroleum Geoscience course and its predecessors (Petroleum Geology and Exploration Geophysics) have, and continue to have, a high success rate in finding employment in the industry. You would join an active research and teaching centre, comprising almost 300 students studying a wide range of BSc, MSci, MSc and PhD degrees, covering fundamental geology, geophysics and geochemistry and their applications to environment and industry.
