Why Choose A Vinyl Replacement Window?
As with any product in any industry as time progresses so too does the product. Take the vinyl replacement window, for example. For hundreds of years, the industry made windows out of wood. Aesthetically, they offered a nice appearance, and craftsmen could readily work with the material. However, because wood was vulnerable to the elements – rain, snow, wind, etc. – these windows wore quickly and needed to be replaced fairly often. The early 1900’s brought about the innovation of steel constructed windows. Having bested the elemental problem of wood, the new windows had new problems. They transferred heat and cold too easily. Homes were too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. The weight of steel windows also caused considerable troubles during installation. Next in line came aluminum. Aluminum windows – just as resilient against the elements as its predecessor – were cheaper to produce than steel and were much lighter as well. However, the energy-efficiency problem persisted.
