You can take it off when not needed, you then have a vehicle for normal everyday use (and not carting a heavy vehicle around for simple tasks – like going to the shops), you have no towing hassles, no registration requirements, you can tow a boat / trailer if need be, you have good fuel economy, ease of parking and it is very easy to set up camp just about anywhere and pack up and leave in an instant.
