Why chicago is called a “windy city”? ?
Chicago has been called the Windy City as far back as 1877. It does not refer to anything weather-related; rather, it has to do with its politicians, both local and those who visit for political conventions, in the sense that they are “blowhards” or “longwinded”, i.e. they talk too much. It also has been used in reference to citizens of Chicago who brag about their city.
