Why Charge Tolls to All Drivers?
Because MDX receives no other revenues except that from tolls, fair and proportionate tolling is critical to maintaining and ultimately improving Miami-Dade’s expressways. In addition to funding Open Road Tolling, revenue from tolls is used for critical pavement and landscaping projects, road maintenance, safety improvements and expansion to the system, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) which uses technology to address congestion, and our complimentary Road Rangers service, which improves comfort and safety on our roads. Furthermore, your tolls fund built and planned highway extensions that play a crucial role in connecting communities to the viable work, educational and entertainment areas in the county.
