WHY CHANGE THE NAME OF PARK FOREST SOUTH TO UNIVERSITY PARK?
1. To Establish a Distinct, Separate Community Identity. Since the community was founded, Park Forest South has not established a separate identity from our sistere community of Park Forest. Many residents still receive mail addressed to Park Forest since the two communities share the same name and zip code of 60466. Also, many people in the Chicago metro region consider Park Forest South to be a part of or a suburb of Park Forest rather than a distinct community. 2. To More Accurately Project the Innovative, High-Tech Nature of the Community. We possess a high-tech industrial park and a major state university. The name University Park projects these two assets of the community. 3. To Improve the Chances of Locating a Separate Post Office in the Community. Securing a separate post office and zip code will not be easy, but our chances are better with a distinct community name such as University Park. 4.
