Why celebrate Black History Month?
Answer Black History Month is a major cultural celebration for Britain presenting an exciting programme of events and activities reflecting African, Caribbean and Asian history, experiences and cultures. The programme is designed to entertain, educate, explore and inform people about the achievements and contributions that Black people have made to British Society. There is a great deal of evidence within schools that shows that this type of focus can significantly enhance self esteem, motivation and self confidence of black pupils. It helps them to feel valued and to feel positive about their heritage and creates a firm foundation for effective learning and raised standards of achievement.
